چکیده

Abstract Background Intensive care unit (ICU) infection management is a growing challenge, and physicians should have regularly updated antibiograms. The aim of this study was to find out the prevalence pathogens determine their antibiotic susceptibility in different ICUs an Egyptian tertiary hospital. This retrospective record-based cross-sectional conducted from first January last December 2019 with total 45,221 diagnostic first-isolate culture/patient obtained Zagazig University Hospitals. antibiogram construction done according Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute instructions Web-based at Stanford University. Results positive blood isolate most prevalent site (32.37%) followed by sputum urine isolates. Gram-negative microorganisms (74.41%) were common pathogens, Klebsiella pneumoniae as frequently identified one incidence 33.51% Escherichia coli 19.3% incidence. Antibiotic sensitivity showed that colistin effective 96.2%, 94.7%, 89.9% for Klebsiella, E. , Acinetobacter, respectively, while carbepenems extremely low, showing 19.5% 19% imipenem meropenem 48% 52.7% 20.1% 20.3% 17.3% 15.2% Pseudomonas aeruginosa . Fungal our results represented less than 1%. Conclusion Our provides local baseline epidemiological data which describes extent ICU infections problem Trial registration ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04318613)
